- There is a legend in Devon regarding the creation of the Abbot's way. A young monk supposedly stole the abbot's wine, and then committed a murder to replenish the stocks and hide his crime. The devil took him for his own. In autumn 1322, it would appear that history is repeating. Abbot Robert has found an empty barrel, and a body has been found on the moors.
